Personal Security
Survival is a basic human instinct that is no different from any animal seen on earth. The need to protect oneself and ones family probably is as strong as any other ever felt whether you are a human or an animal. After all thanks to Darwin, survival of the fittest is now recognized as the ubiquitous rule of nature. However, personal security sometimes needs more than just instinct and physical strength. The fact that you may not realize it, in no way diminishes its importance. You never know when your life could be in danger. You may choose not to practice it but an adequate knowledge of personal security could definitely help bail you out of many unexpected situations.
Women though in many ways can display certain superiority over males; somehow always seem to lose out when it comes to protecting themselves. However, there are enough instances when with a little quick thinking and smart action, they have been able to wriggle out of potentially harmful situations. The threats you face in everyday life have no specific form. By assigning personal security the seriousness it deserves can help tackle or even to a large extent avoid many difficult encounters. Nothing could be more disastrous than assuming a complacent attitude and ignoring caution preferring to believe that it cannot happen to you or worse blame luck when it actually happens.
When living in a house or an apartment, ensure that you have a security system set up to keep intruders at bay or help warn you in case of any incidents, so you can take appropriate action immediately and prevent greater damage. Personal security cannot be restricted to workplaces or public places and it would be wrong to believe that you cannot be in danger if you are safely ensconced in your home. If not from home invaders you could be in danger from accidental fires or small accidents, which can become life threatening.
It is not always necessary to have firearms to protect oneself. In countries where it is illegal to possess a gun, it may not be an option at all. In fact if you have children at home it is definitely not advisable to keep firearms at home. Women find carrying personal security devices such as pepper sprays, stun guns and stun batons extremely effective in handling attackers (again, in some countries these items are illegal), and personal alarms which can be useful. Some basic training in self-defense will definitely come in handy not just for women but for men as well. There are no guarantees for any forms of protection, but a lot of pain and heartache can definitely be avoided if you just use a little common sense and exercise adequate caution every step of the way.
